Tabla: Indian Drums & Rhythm3.0.0 - Google Play

Play the tabla, the hand drum at the heart of Indian classical music, on your phone or tablet. Every stroke you hear is a studio recording of a real tabla, so the drums answer the way the instrument does: deep and open in the center, sharp and short at the rim.

No sheet music and no setup. Tap a drum head and you are already playing.

Real Tabla Sounds, Sampled Zone by Zone
- Three tabla heads with six separate strike zones
- Syahi: the dark center of the head, for the full main tone
- Kinar: the outer rim, for the crisp, short edge stroke
- Bayan and dayan each respond from their own recordings
- Multi-touch, so you can strike with several fingers at once, the way the real instrument is played

Who It Is For
Percussionists and drummers, music students and teachers, producers sketching an Indian rhythm, and anyone trying the tabla for the first time.

About the Instrument
The tabla is the main rhythm instrument of Indian classical music. The larger, deeper drum is the bayan and the smaller, higher one is the dayan. The syahi at the center of the head gives the full main tone, while the kinar at the rim gives a thinner, shorter stroke. This app samples both zones separately, so the drums behave like the real instrument instead of repeating a single sample.

Good to Know
The app is free to download and is supported by ads. The microphone permission is used only while you are recording. The app runs in landscape orientation.

If you have a question, or something behaves unexpectedly on your device, you can write to us from the side menu inside the app.
